Oh how we laughed, like disciples at the childrens table. At your knee, hanging on to every word. Staying sober to numb the pain, with a thousand clocks that never stop drifting out of time. Involuntary requests for assistance - they’re not coming, you’re on your own with this. But you saw me from across the ward, not a child, for the last time with love in your heart. Abject fear, awake with a smile. Washed away, just ash in the lake.

Through the window, a boy spits venom at a passerby. Forcing dialogue about nothing in particular. And concrete minds made up; but what else could it be. They turn to smoke and fade into the sky. Talked to death but yet to die. I hope to death they get to die. At least they’ll never speak again.
