1.
Redundant gland, cortisol’s stake. Detach from corporeal form. Transcend to third person. The gall of autumn, the leaves begin to grate. Restitution, no sunlight. Indebted to crown shyness. As the leaves settle on the ground, I am nothing more than inconsistent shapes.
2.
Held by Love 01:43
Crawl through the phone, grab you by the shoulders. Words can’t convey, they fail me - Redundant vocabulary. We talked almost every everyday, subtext lost to me. Heart tied in knots in each word you speak. Free all your guilt. I can’t change the past. Can I start by telling you, you are held up by love. Measure the distance.
3.
Cogs of death. The bureaucrat heaves, slow murder of efficiency. The bureaucrat heaves, a deliberate function. Lean on the disillusion, no possible alternative. And yet, with each act of resistance, we march en masse. There is hope yet, let’s never forgive our losses. Say it louder.
4.
There’s no tombs, it’s joyful. The other side has foresight of anguish. The youth look up to false blueprints - resin casts of condemned idols. It’s not an emergency until it emerges here. Our luck of the draw. Burnt out eyes, we’ve seen it before. Falling away, this is not our place, at least for today. Make it last, justify our heroes. Not like us, count backwards to zero. Paid with blood, this hell gets closer in reach. Not like us, so we’re led to believe. Forged from the sun, sheltered again. Not our place, not our time, not yet our problem.
5.
The systematic murder of thousands of children.
6.
Ideation was the enemy, ideation was the reality. Bones made of concrete, weight growing with each aching step. Wanting to feel small, to feel hidden. The low hum of traffic from outside the attic window. Present but transitionary, strip lighting, children's ward. Inconclusive that this is the end. Now is the time to unlearn, heal and grow. Now is the time to learn that you are more than the sum of parts. Planning for a future that you did not expect to be part of. How wonderful, how frightening.
7.
Oh how we laughed, like disciples at the childrens table. At your knee, hanging on to every word. Staying sober to numb the pain, with a thousand clocks that never stop drifting out of time. Involuntary requests for assistance - they’re not coming, you’re on your own with this. But you saw me from across the ward, not a child, for the last time with love in your heart. Abject fear, awake with a smile. Washed away, just ash in the lake. Through the window, a boy spits venom at a passerby. Forcing dialogue about nothing in particular. And concrete minds made up; but what else could it be. They turn to smoke and fade into the sky. Talked to death but yet to die. I hope to death they get to die. At least they’ll never speak again.
8.
Pumping Bile 02:19
I might sign up this time, future is looking bright. A career in death - “We’ll make you righteous yet”. Misled by the postcards deserted vistas so distant. There’s no glory in this, soaked in blood of severed limbs. And what of what was promised? It doesn’t exist. It never did. We turn the lands to sulphur, the lord bows to suffering. Blurred lines between soldier and worker, still fucked in machine. Like I didn’t know what this was, writing on the walls from the start. A last breath that tastes so acrid. Moving forward but still stuck at the start. I should have been somewhere else - bad move on my part.
9.
It’s not a race, we’re a team, we’re in love. Don’t cross the line, is the path not enough? Rights based on circumstance. Defend your luck as if you made it. Don’t cross the line, is the path not enough? It’s you that I trust, we are in love. And even if those, with wool pulled over their eyes, bullshit fears come true - No bombs, just crushed by those above - want to make a better life, well so fucking what?
10.
Unvetted power, scorched fingers point the blame. A broken system. Austerity’s haze. Make no mistake, they would commodify community if they had any sign of life behind their eyes. The cost of doing business is more than I can bear. In reaching for the stars, they don’t care what they left behind. Flowers grow in the dirt, where your body rests. Your only positive contribution to this earth. And the flowers will not wilt.
11.
Interlude 01:01
12.
Shadowing manoeuvres - greed or incompetence? When the tree falls and no one hears it, the roots still sever. The one true self interest is for us all. Any human in there? Can you see the world around you? Endless politicking with no remorse.
